So, Why Oslo?
Oslo is the most sustainable city, it has been successfully created green and sustainable environment, with;
- More than 2/3 of its municipality covered in protected forest, waterways, and agriculture land
- intelligent and innovative plans of environmental protection and lightning adjustments
- manageable waste controlling plan of transiting bio-methane from waste to power mass and heating
- The "eco-certification" program contributing the environmental development, involving 43,000 employees of the city
- power supplying with renewable energy from mainly biomass from residual waste. This saves the carbon emissions equivalent to 60,000 vehicles.
Future plans in progress/ proposal and visions;
- Oslo aims to cut carbon emission by 50% of that from now by the year of 2030
- With Norway as a whole plans to be carbon neutral by 2050
- Targeting the transportation sector for the greatest gains
- In progress on the car and bike sharing programs, 400 charging stations have been installed downtown. It is already for now, over 1.700 EVs grace Oslo's roads, all receiving free parking, toll immunity, and access to lanes generally reserved for the public transport.
- Plans on expanding the renewable energy system to reach 100 percent renewable sources of heating, measured to be achieved within the decade.
